The BYBA participates in the Edmonton Youth Basketball Association A/B Division for competitive teams to develop higher level players in the U13 and U15 categories for both boys and girls. The A/B Division allows players to compete at a high level against players with similar skills from other zones within the EYBA. Given its competitive nature, A/B Division teams have tryouts. Players who do not make the A/B Division teams are still eligible to play community basketball in their divisions.
Under 13 (U13) 11-12 years old
Under 15 (U15) 13-14 years old
The A/B Team Program runs from end-September to mid-March with games usually played on Tuesday evenings (for boys play) and Wednesday evenings (for girls play with some Thursday evenings as well). Games will primarily take place at the Saville Community Sports Centre, however, games will also be held at other gyms around the Edmonton Region.
The Division A/B program is a competitive division which requires higher commitment levels by players, their parents, and coaches. If you cannot commit to 2 practices and a game a week, please do not try out. Division A/B teams can be formed at the U13 and U15 age categories. These teams play other A/B division teams from different zones in a city-wide program that is guided by EYBA rules and regulations. Division A/B teams generally play one game per week (games are during the weekday) and practice two times per week* at a gym in Beaumont*.
There is a Tryout fee of for every participant $20.00.
For players that make the A/B team, there will be a $100 fee to cover the cost of the extra practice times.
